The Barbarian FC first came about in 1890, whereby William Percy Carpmael, a player from Blackheath and Cambridge University, created a team aiming to spread good fellowship across rugby. This concept has been adhered to since that very day. Members from all sources are invited to tour and compete against the top clubs as Barbarian based on their standard of play and behaviour in the sport.
